KAFCOL is all set to start a Masters Degree Program in Natural Resources Management and Rural Development (NRM-RD) from 2014. The program is expected to contribute in meeting the ever increasing demand of competent professionals in the field.
Major subject areas
Non-timber Forest Products, Community Forestry, Natural Resource Economics, Global Environmental Change, Agroforestry, Sustainable Forest Management, Rural Development, Ecotourism Planning & Management, Statistical Methods & Data Management, Research Methodology, Geographical Information Science are some of the main courses offered. The first year will be focused on theoretical course works, while the second year’s courses are designed for application of learned theories and skills in relevant field. The fourth semester is allocated for thesis research.
The session generally starts in September-October each year. For 2014, the classes are expected to start in November or December.
The College enrolls 20 students in each batch.
Holders of Bachelor level degree in the field of applied science (such as Forestry, Watershed Management, Agriculture, Environment, Natural Resource Management, and Rural Development) with at least 45% marks in aggregate can appear in the entrance exam administered by the Dean’s Office, Institute of Forestry, Pokhara.
Application forms can be obtained from KAFCOL, IOF Pokhara and IOF liaison office Kirtipur. Students who have passed the entrance exam are eligible for admission in this program.
The total fee for the 2 year program is NPR 290,000. The fee can be changed anytime.
