Dear Shareholders, Management Committee Members, Faculty, Staff and Students,
As you may be aware that Kathmandu Forestry College (KAFCOL) completed nine years and entered into 10 from today. This is based on the date (i.e. 2062-4-31 BS) on which we received affiliation from the Tribhuwan University to run BSc Forestry Program. My heartfelt congratulations to you all on this special occasion.
KAFCOL has been steadily growing over the years. Currently, we are running three academic programs. A fourth program (MSc in Natural Resources Management and Rural Development) is scheduled to be started this year. The outreach activities that we have started in recent years have also helped to enhance the College’s profile and visibility in Nepal and beyond. All these achievements were not possible without tireless efforts and dedication of many of our colleagues. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their valuable services to the college.
While we are proud on our past achievements, we have also been facing some critical challenges in recent years. One of the key challenges is to develop necessary physical infrastructure to meet the needs of growing number of students and academic programs. To address this challenge, we have recently started the process of developing necessary infrastructure at Matatirtha. We will be communicating with you on this initiative in the weeks and months to come.
Finally, I would like to reiterate our commitment to providing high quality education, research and practical skills in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, and GIS to our students such that our graduates can compete globally. May this occasion provide us with necessary courage and joint determination to uplifting KAFCOL to even greater heights to meet our goal of making it a center of excellence in forestry education and research?
