Diploma in Forestry

KAFCOL offers three years Diploma in Forestry course. The course improves elementary understanding on global issues relating to environment and enables student to undertake basic forestry and other environment related projects. It follows the course content of I.Sc. Forestry program, run earlier by TU, Institute of Forestry, Hetauda and Pokhara campuses, with addition of 3 months field practical training. Besides   employment   opportunities, the graduates of this course will have opportunity to continue B.Sc. Forestry degree course at KAFCOL, IOF, AFU and other universities.’

Major subject areas

The major subject areas include Silviculture, Agroforestry, Forest Management, Forest Mensuration, Soil and Water Conservation, Eco-Tourism and Recreation, Entrepreneurship Development and Wildlife and Bio-diversity Conservation, Community forestry, Forest protection, NTFPs in addition to basic science subjects such as Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, etc.

Study tours

These tours and visits are  organized  in  coordination  with  division   forest  offices,  protected  area management   offices,  Soil  and watershed  management  offices and  forest based  Entrepreneurs.

Academic session

The session generally starts in August-September each year.

Annual enrollment

The College enrolls 40 students in each batch.

Eligibility

SLC passed students ,  and  SEE  with  English Mathematics and  Science   securing   at least  C grade  on any two  of  above  subject and   D+  grade  for  remaining  one  subject are eligible to appear in the entrance examination administered by the CTEVT.

Admission

Application forms for the entrance exam can be obtained from KAFCOL as well as from CTEVT website. Students who are successful in the entrance exam run by CTEVT are eligible for admission in this program.

Tuition fee

The fees are liable to changes anytime. For details of the total fee for the 3 year program, see attached leaflet or contact college by phone/ email. Students can make one time full payment of the capitation fee at enrolment or partial payment in installments at the beginning of every year. Other scholarships to deserving students can be available occasionally. Read scholarship section on this site for details.
