Diploma in Forestry

Overview

KAFCOL offers three years Diploma in Forestry course. The course improves elementary understanding on global issues relating to environment and enables student to undertake basic forestry and other environment related projects. It follows the course content of I.Sc. Forestry program, run earlier by TU, Institute of Forestry, Hetauda and Pokhara campuses, with addition of 3 months field practical training. Besides employment opportunities, the graduates of this course will have opportunity to continue B.Sc. Forestry degree course at KAFCOL and IOF.

Admission

Application forms for the entrance exam can be obtained from KAFCOL, Koteshwor as well as from CTEVT website. Students who are successful in the entrance exam run by CTEVT are eligible for admission in this program.

Tuition Fee

The fees are liable to changes anytime. For details of the total fee for the 3 year program, see attached leaflet or college by phone/ email. Students can make one time full payment of the capitation fee at enrolment or partial payment in installments at the beginning of every year. Other scholarships to deserving students can be available occasionally.

Bachelor in Forestry

Overview

KAFCOL offers a four-year B. Sc. Course in Forestry Science in affiliation with Tribhuvan University (TU). The course is designed to engage interest of students from the start and help them find the career they want. This course is relevant for individuals concerned with global environmental issues and their environment- friendly and sustainable solutions. Combination of practical and academic elements will enhance employment prospects in a broad range of careers, including Forestry, Soil Conservation and Watershed Management, Wildlife Management, Biodiversity, and Environment.

Admission

Interested candidates can apply online through the IOF website. Students who have passed the entrance exam are eligible for admission in this program. Admissions are strictly merit-based.

Students can make one time full payment of the capitation fee at enrolment or partial payment in installments at the beginning of each semester. Maximum five students nominated by the Government of Nepal in each batch get full scholarships. College also provides some scholarships to deserving students under different categories.

M. Sc in NRMRD

Overview

KAFCOL is running a Master’s Degree Program in Natural Resources Management and Rural Development (NRM-RD) since 2015. The program expects to contribute in meeting the ever increasing demand of competent professionals in the field.

Admission

Application forms can be obtained from KAFCOL and IOF Dean and liaison offices, Kirtipur. Online application through the IOF website can also be made. Students who have passed the entrance exam are eligible for admission in this program.

Tuition Fee

Students can make full payment of the capitation fee on enrolment or partial payment by installments in each semester. Maximum two students nominated by the Government of Nepal in each batch get full scholarships. College can also occasionally provide some financial incentives to deserving candidates.

M. Sc in GI Science

Overview

Kathmandu Forestry College is collaborating with the University of Salzburg Austria to jointly run M.Sc. program in Geographical Information Science and Systems (GI Science), popularly known as UNIGIS MSc course. The Program has been authorized by the Ministry of Education, Government of Nepal. Individuals aiming at a career in GIS or professionals already active in this field and are interested in pursuing international quality higher education while working will find this program attractive.

Application Procedure

Interested students are required to submit completed application form, which can be obtained from the College or will be provided through email.

Tuition Fee

Total fee for a sponsored student is Euro 3,500. Self-paying students can get a subsidy of Euro 500 on the total fee and need to pay Euro 3,000. Fee can be paid in two installments, in which case an extra Euro 400 will be additionally charged (refer to http://www.kafcol.edu.np for details).
